In a groundbreaking endeavor to combat the persistent issue of stubble burning, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a large-scale intervention through a project titled 'Mitigation of Stubble Burning with Reduction in Cost of Paddy Cultivation by Solar/Electrically Powered Machines.'
This initiative, authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, is led by the start-up Vikalp (Alternative Farmtech Pvt. Ltd.). Vikalp is pioneering solar-powered mechanization tailored for smallholder farmers, turning an innovative concept into practicality on the ground.
The initiative will prominently feature the distribution of 100 Vikalp E-Brushcutters to selected farmers in Auraiya district on April 16. The program emphasizes an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective approach to replace residue burning while exploring similar interventions by dignitaries like Hemochandra Singh, former Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
