Union Minister Piyush Goyal has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of straying from its foundational values, now representing corruption and misgovernance. In an interview with ANI, Goyal criticized the AAP-led administrations in Delhi and Punjab, describing them as having failed public expectations.
The minister's remarks follow a significant political shift, as several AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, notably Raghav Chadha, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Goyal alleged the party leadership, headed by Arvind Kejriwal, has disregarded the electorate's aspirations, associating Kejriwal himself with increasing corruption and mismanagement.
Referencing the defections, Goyal stated that MPs resigned out of concern for the party's drift from core principles and encroaching corruption around Kejriwal. This internal unrest culminated in Chadha's recent announcement that a majority of AAP's Upper House members would align with the BJP, signaling a deepening crisis within the party.
