Tamil Nadu Police Arrest Main Accused in Deadly Firecracker Factory Blast

The Tamil Nadu police have successfully apprehended the chief suspect in the deadly Virudhunagar firecracker factory blast case. The incident, which occurred on April 19, claimed the lives of 23 individuals. Easwari, the factory owner and former Panchayat President, was taken into custody in Coimbatore, confirmed Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police, N Shreenatha.

Easwari had been absconding since the explosion, which also injured 13 rescue personnel due to a secondary blast during their operations. Her arrest follows increasing pressure and protests from the victims' families, who demanded Rs 20 lakh compensation for each bereaved family after staging a road blockade.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, the district's senior police officials reported that rescue operations commenced immediately after notification from the public, with police, fire, and rescue teams working tirelessly at the scene. Investigations continue to unfold as Vachakarapatti police delve deeper into the tragic incident.
