ISA discusses technical cooperation with Rajasthan's Discoms

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has held discussions with Rajasthan's power distribution companies on extending technical cooperation to further strengthen the sector and appreciated their achievements, according to an official. ISA, a global body promoting green energy with participation from 126 countries, commended the state's progress in solar energy and grid digitisation. It highlighted initiatives such as the use of digital twin technology by Jaipur Discom for grid digitisation. A delegation led by ISA Director General Ashish Khanna held talks with Energy Secretary and Rajasthan Discoms Chairperson Aarti Dogra, along with senior officials from Ajmer and Jodhpur discoms. During the meeting, Khanna said Rajasthan has achieved over 4,000 MW of decentralised solar capacity under the PM Kusum scheme in a short span of about two to two-and-a-half years, calling it a significant accomplishment. He also noted that the state ranks among the top three in the country in rooftop solar installations, the official informed. Discussions were also held on collaboration between ISA and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to support grid digitisation in Ajmer Discom. Dogra said that with the rapid pace at which Kusum plants are being connected to the grid, the installed capacity is expected to reach around 10,000 MW by the end of the year. She sought technical support from ISA and GEAPP in areas such as improving energy efficiency, integration of decentralised solar power, and transmission and distribution planning.
