In the wake of Wednesday's exit poll predictions, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed optimism about the DMK-led alliance retaining power in Tamil Nadu and a Congress-led victory in Kerala. While acknowledging the mixed signals from exit polls, Kharge remains hopeful about securing clear majorities in these regions.
The Axis My India exit poll forecasts a favorable outcome for the DMK-led alliance, projecting it to win between 92 and 100 seats. Meanwhile, Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) seems to rival Chief Minister MK Stalin in popularity. Other exit polls indicate a likely return to power for DMK in Tamil Nadu. In contrast, the AIADMK and other alliances face a tougher battle.
Kharge conceded the challenges faced by Congress in Assam and Puducherry, where exit polls suggest a tough contest. Meanwhile, West Bengal is seeing a closely-fought battle between BJP and the Trinamool Congress. While not committing to supporting TMC in a hung assembly, Kharge hinted at a potential alliance if necessary. Additionally, he addressed confusion over leadership in Karnataka, affirming that any changes would be decided with Sonia Gandhi's guidance.
