India's Solar Future: Floating Projects Making Waves
The Indian government is developing a scheme to support floating solar projects to optimize land use and promote energy efficiency. This initiative aims to encourage states to implement larger floating solar systems. With the growing solar capacity, the nation moves towards a greener energy future.
The Indian government is advancing a specialized scheme designed to boost floating solar projects, as revealed by MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi. This announcement was made during the 13th Foundation Day of the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) in the capital.
Sarangi emphasized the need to prevent land restrictions from hindering solar module deployment, suggesting a scheme to promote larger-scale floating solar projects across states. These projects, based on water bodies, offer enhanced energy efficiency over land installations due to water's cooling effects.
Moreover, the launch of the NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation marks a unified approach in renewable energy sectors, with renewed focus on industrial and mobility decarbonization. As India's solar capacity surges, the nation embraces its goal of a Net Zero Economy.
