Protests Ignite Over Spiraling Commercial LPG Prices

The CPI organized a protest on Sunday in response to the recent hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices, which they claim has severely impacted small businesses and roadside eateries.

Led by CPI South Chennai District Secretary S K Siva, demonstrators gathered in Saidapet to voice their frustration against the BJP-led Union government. Siva highlighted that the increased gas prices have forced many street eateries to close, threatening the livelihoods of workers relying on these jobs.

The protestors accused the government of aligning with US interests over domestic needs while urging for reduced taxes. They criticized timing the price hike post-elections, predicting unrest unless issues like the cost of living are addressed.
