Amazon has rolled out a landmark Solar Energy Community Development Project in Mumbai, targeting the enhancement of public school facilities and the improvement of safety in underserved areas through the application of sustainable energy solutions.

The launch event saw attendance from top Amazon executives including Mr. Saji PK and Mr. Adityaa Chowdry. The proceedings were also graced by CSR team members Ms. Brinda Alankar and Ms. Rashika Saini, as well as government representatives like Mr. Shashikant Memane and Ms. Manisha Pawar. Green India Initiative's Dr. Sachin Shigwan and Mr. Suyog Gangavane from the implementing team were key figures present, alongside representatives from Nirmiti Foundation.

Forming part of Amazon's CSR efforts, this project combines renewable energy deployment, educational enhancements, and community development with enduring socio-environmental impacts. As many as 17 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation schools in Powai are now equipped with solar on-grid rooftop systems, enhancing educational experience with reliable power. Additionally, the deployment of 50 solar-powered street lights across neighboring communities increases safety and facilitates nighttime visibility. Ultimately, this initiative supports reduced carbon emissions, economic growth, and aligns with India's green energy goals.
