Tension in West Bengal's assembly election continues as Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shashi Panja accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately provoking unrest to necessitate repolling. Her remarks followed the Election Commission's decision to conduct repolling in 15 booths.
Panja claimed BJP's actions were a strategic attempt to create conditions for further repolling and defame the state. She also noted the BJP's alleged lack of preparation and intention to spoil the electoral process, stating that they sought to implement a disruptive strategy while the TMC refrained from reaction.
On the other side, BJP candidate Purnima Chakraborty dismissed Panja's claims, asserting that fears of losing prompted TMC's allegations. She emphasized confidence in securing a victory for BJP under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. The context of these accusations comes as repolling is underway following alleged EVM tampering during the second polling phase. Voter turnout reached 92.67% as West Bengal awaits results on May 4.
