In a heart-wrenching incident, four brave security personnel lost their lives during an accidental IED explosion in the dense forests of Bastar division, Chhattisgarh, the police confirmed on Saturday. The blast occurred amid an operation aimed at retrieving Maoist dumps containing explosives, weapons, and other materials.
Inspector General Sundarraj P reported that the tragic incident took place in the Adnar forest, bordering Narayanpur and Kanker districts. Despite recent successes in recovering arms and ammunition, the complexity of IEDs poses significant challenges for security forces. This operation is part of long-standing efforts to dismantle Maoist operations in the area.
The deceased officers included Inspector Sukhram Bhatti and constables Parmanand Korram, Krishna Kumar, and Sanjay Garhpale. As operations continue, authorities stress the importance of ongoing anti-Maoist measures and the recovery of IEDs to ensure regional safety. A detailed forensic investigation will determine the cause of the explosion.
