In a resolute display of confidence, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy expressed optimism about the party's electoral prospects, highlighting that the DMK stands on a "very firm footing" and is poised to form the government with a substantial mandate. Speaking to ANI regarding early trends in the state Assembly elections, Veeraswamy urged caution against drawing conclusions solely from initial postal ballot counts, though he noted these were favorable indicators for his party.
"While postal votes don't tell the whole story, it is an encouraging sign that we are leading," Veeraswamy told reporters. "We are on solid ground, confident in forming the government with the largest majority—ushering in DMK 2.0, to perpetuate progress for Tamil Nadu." These remarks followed as vote counting commenced across Tamil Nadu, with close attention being paid to early trends to determine the state's political trajectory.
Despite Veeraswamy's confidence, initial data revealed significant advances for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by chief Vijay, with the party leading in 101 seats. This marks a formidable gain compared to 50 seats for the DMK alliance and 73 for the AIADMK coalition. TVK's leader Vijay remains prominent in early counts, particularly in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency, where he contests, signaling a noteworthy political debut.
