The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has taken a significant step to enhance compensation for farmers impacted by high-tension power transmission towers. Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma announced the cabinet's approval on Monday to double the compensation for affected land.

Under the new policy, farmers will receive 200 per cent compensation for land directly under transmission towers and 30 per cent for areas affected by overhead lines. This decision applies to land impacted by 765 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV high-tension transmission lines.

Sharma highlighted that previous compensation arrangements were insufficient, often resulting in project execution challenges. The revised policy aligns with central government guidelines and promises to ensure fair compensation and cooperation from farmers, paving the way for smoother development of power infrastructure.
