Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has called for improved access to welfare services during a meeting with the state’s Department of Social Welfare. The governor suggested holding camps at block and village levels for the issuance of disability certificates, facilitating better access to government schemes and entitlements.
The meeting, held on Monday, was attended by Director Social Welfare Tosheli Zhimomi, who presented ongoing initiatives like Anganwadi programs and Missions Vatsalya and Shakti, focusing on nutrition, child protection, and women's empowerment. The need for robust implementation and increased public awareness was stressed.
In a separate monsoon preparedness meeting, Yadav reviewed the state’s preparation plans amid forecasts of above-normal rainfall. Key measures discussed included setting up control rooms, ensuring road connectivity, and emergency response strategies. Officials from various departments stressed coordinated efforts to minimize monsoon disruptions.
