In a landmark political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a sweeping victory in West Bengal, bringing an end to the 15-year dominance of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, in a statement on X, hailed the electoral result as a "New Dawn for Sonar Bangla," crediting the win to the people's endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's transformative vision.

Prime Minister Modi, celebrating the BJP's success, lauded the relentless efforts of numerous party workers who have been instrumental in reshaping the state's political landscape. With 207 seats, the BJP surged past the majority mark, reshaping expectations and challenging the TMC's once-unassailable stronghold. The TMC, in contrast, managed only 80 seats, signaling a dramatic fall from power.

Though the BJP translated its substantial vote share into a significant seat advantage, the electoral landscape remains fiercely contested. The BJP garnered 45.84% of the vote compared to TMC's 40.80%, underscoring a deeply competitive environment. The election results also carried symbolic weight, particularly in Bhabanipur, where Suvendu Adhikari's defeat of Mamata Banerjee epitomized the scale of the political upheaval.
