An IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh conducted an emergency evacuation after landing on Tuesday when a passenger's personal electronic device catch fire. The airline responded swiftly to ensure the safety of all individuals on board. An official statement from IndiGo confirmed the occurrence and detailed the immediate actions taken. "On 5 May 2026, after landing, an incident involving a customer's personal electronic equipment catching fire involved our flight 6E 108, which was stationary at the time. For safety, an immediate evacuation was enacted, and authorities were duly notified," the statement read.

The spokesperson further affirmed that passengers were safely transported to the terminal, where IndiGo's team looked after their well-being. "All customers were safely moved and attended to by our team," the spokesperson assured. IndiGo has committed to conducting essential safety checks on the aircraft before it returns to service. "Safety is our top priority; checks will be done prior to resuming operations," the statement concluded.

In a separate incident, a passenger aboard an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah was detained after abruptly opening the emergency exit during taxiing at Chennai International Airport. The plane, having arrived at 0323 hrs, was disabled on the runway, causing a temporary closure until 0435 hrs after removal. Despite minor abrasions on the disrupting passenger, no severe injuries were reported. The passenger was swiftly apprehended by CISF and handed over to local police. Airport operations resumed soon after with comprehensive inspections conducted. (ANI)
