Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has issued a directive to power distribution companies across the state, emphasizing the need for uninterrupted power supply during the demanding summer months. In a meeting with senior officers from the Energy department, Singh Deo reviewed preparations for the season and noted the significance of addressing consumer complaints promptly. Quality materials have been highlighted as essential in maintenance efforts to prevent recurrent faults.
During the briefing, Singh Deo called for a heightened focus on consumer-centric service delivery. He instructed DISCOMs to treat all consumer grievances with urgency and resolve them swiftly, urging employees to maintain a courteous and proactive approach. To improve grievance redressal mechanisms, an increase in the number of dedicated response teams has been mandated.
Public safety, particularly concerning electrical infrastructure, was another focal point of the meeting. Singh Deo insisted on observing strict safety norms for hoardings and billboards near power installations, emphasizing preventive measures against accidents due to high winds and norwester storms. He reaffirmed the Odisha government's promise to provide round-the-clock reliable power and called for continuous vigilance during summer.
