Aselsan Amplifies Production to Power Turkey's Ambitious Steel Dome Defense System
Aselsan, a leading Turkish defense firm, is significantly boosting its production to support Turkey's Steel Dome air defense system project, expected to enhance the country's defense capabilities. This move aligns with Turkey's broader goal to develop an integrated defense strategy and reduce external dependencies, expanding its influence in defense technology.
In a significant move to bolster Turkey's defense infrastructure, Aselsan, a prominent Turkish defense company, announced plans to accelerate the delivery of components for the nation's Steel Dome system.
According to Aselsan General Manager Ahmet Akyol, the firm is set to increase its product delivery by 50% by 2026, marking a substantial contribution to Turkey's air defense advancements. The components include early warning radars and electronic combat systems, crucial for the Steel Dome, Turkey's take on Israel's Iron Dome.
Turkey is investing heavily in its defense industry to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. Aselsan, with contracts worth $3.2 billion as part of the Steel Dome initiative, plays a crucial role in this transformation. Furthermore, the company aims to enhance its global presence by accelerating export growth, reinforcing Turkey's standing in global defense markets.
