Amritsar witnessed heightened security measures after a sudden explosion disrupted the cantonment area of Khasa on Tuesday night, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities. Roads in specific zones were temporarily closed on Wednesday as police sought to unravel the explosion's origin.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Karam Singh confirmed that surveillance was intensified, with key routes sealed off. In response to the incident, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring voiced strong concerns over state safety, insisting on accountability from the government and questioning ongoing lapses in security arrangements.
As police and security teams, including the Bomb Disposal Squad and Forensic Science Laboratory, continued their assessment, reports indicated the absence of casualties. SP Aditya S. Warrier stated that the authorities are meticulously examining evidence to ascertain how the explosion occurred, with comprehensive details anticipated soon.
