Kashmiri Pandits' Protest Against NFSA Rations Integration
Displaced Kashmiri Pandits have protested against the integration of their relief rations into the National Food Security Act (NFSA), viewing it as a threat to their identity as genocide survivors. The protest involved minor clashes with police, and community leaders warned of intensified agitation if the government does not address their concerns.

On Wednesday, displaced Kashmiri Pandits gathered to protest against the Jammu and Kashmir administration's decision to integrate their relief rations into the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The protesters, who see this as a dilution of their migrant and genocide victim status, faced off with police when attempting to march to the Relief Commissioner's office.
The integration process, which began in early 2026, aims to incorporate over 50,000 families into the NFSA database. Community members, including the United Alliance of Kashmiri Displaced Community and Panun Kashmir, took part in the protests, demanding the rollback of what they call a 'black law' that threatens their distinct identity and rehabilitation rights.
Protest leaders emphasize the importance of recognizing Kashmiri Pandits as internally displaced persons and warn of larger agitations if their concerns are not promptly and adequately addressed. The community continues to demand permanent rehabilitation and preservation of their rights.
