A tragic incident unfolded in the heart of Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district as a 30-year-old elephant met an untimely demise. The majestic tusker was allegedly electrocuted, with its lifeless form discovered ensnared in electrical wires.
According to Seraikela Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Saba Alam Ansari, villagers and visual evidence indicated the elephant's death was due to electrocution. The wires were wrapped around its trunk, providing stark evidence of the tragic encounter.
In response, a dedicated forest department team, alongside local veterinarians, promptly conducted a post-mortem at the scene. This examination supported the initial assumption of electrocution as the cause of death, highlighting the continuing hazards posed to wildlife by human infrastructure.
