A harrowing road accident in Tamil Nadu's Negamam claimed the lives of four individuals from the same family on Monday. The tragedy struck when a car, traveling from Pollachi to Palladam, collided head-on with a lorry approaching from the opposite direction, according to a police official.

The ill-fated car, carrying five family members including Dhanapal (37), his wife Menaga (35), Sneha (23), Kaniska (17), and Surjith (12) from Salem district, was severely damaged. Authorities reported that driver Saravanan (39), operating the lorry, allegedly lost control and crashed into the car due to rash and negligent driving.

While Dhanapal, Menaga, and Sneha died at the scene, Kaniska and Surjith were rushed to the Government Hospital in Pollachi. Tragically, Kaniska was later declared dead, and Surjith was transferred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for further medical care. The Negamam police confirmed the lorry driver has been taken into custody as investigations continue, and the deceased have been sent for post-mortem. Updates are awaited.
