Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday unveiled the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project as a testament to the state's robust business pace, aiming to cement its place as a defence manufacturing powerhouse. Speaking at the foundation ceremony in Puttaparthi, Naidu highlighted 'Operation Sindoor' as a proud milestone in India's technological prowess, aligning with the nation’s self-reliance goals in defence.
Naidu elaborated on the pivotal role of the AMCA project in demonstrating India's defence capabilities through indigenous aircraft manufacturing. The project, with a substantial investment of Rs 15,803 crore, spans nearly 650 acres in Puttaparthi, promising the creation of a dedicated township and approximately 7,500 jobs, enhancing state employment potential.
Earlier, alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and state minister Nara Lokesh, Naidu laid the foundation stones for the AMCA and several other defence initiatives under the Drone City project. An accompanying exhibition featured missiles, firearms, and a fighter aircraft prototype. These projects underscore the integration and advancement of defence sector infrastructure, including a Flight Testing Centre and a Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility in the state.
