Air India marked a historic milestone on Friday by inaugurating commercial flights to Ludhiana's Halwara airport, becoming the first airline to offer such services. The new connection links Ludhiana to Delhi, and beyond, to global destinations, enhancing travel convenience and connectivity for passengers.
The airline's official statement highlighted the inaugural flight from Delhi, which touched down at Ludhiana's freshly operational Halwara airport at 7:03 am. Following this, the return service departed at 8 am. Air India plans to operate two daily flights on the Delhi-Ludhiana route using its A320 family aircraft, ensuring seamless connections to its expansive international network.
Passengers will benefit from synchronized flight schedules that offer seamless transfers at Delhi airport and through-ticket and unified baggage services. However, the company has announced a rationalization of certain international routes due to persistent airspace restrictions and surging jet fuel costs. Despite these adjustments, Air India continues to conduct over 1,200 international flights monthly.
