The Delhi Police Vigilance Branch made a significant arrest on Tuesday, detaining a head constable from the Kamla Market police station on suspicion of bribery. The officer was allegedly caught red-handed, accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe, according to police sources. Investigations are ongoing to delve deeper into the case.
Meanwhile, in a separate high-profile investigation, the Rouse Avenue Court extended the custody of Colonel Himanshu Bali, who is connected to a Rs 50 lakh bribery case related to defense procurement. The court also ordered further custody for Akshat Agarwal and Mayank Agarwal; the suppliers implicated in the alleged corruption scheme.
Special Judge Smita Garg emphasized the necessity of custodial interrogation to unravel the full extent of the alleged conspiracy involving public and private entities. The CBI alleges Colonel Bali, posted with the Army Ordnance Corps in Kolkata, manipulated procurement processes for financial gain, with bribes allegedly facilitated through hawala transactions.
