Karnataka CM Shivakumar's New Cabinet: Portfolios Announced Amid Governance Reshuffle

In a significant move, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced the allocation of portfolios to 13 ministers within his Cabinet. The reshuffle comes into immediate effect, with Shivakumar retaining crucial departments, such as Finance and Intelligence, under his direct oversight. The cabinet shake-up was communicated through an official notification issued by the Cabinet Affairs and Personnel and Administrative Reforms Secretariat, leveraging the powers granted by Clause (3) of Article 166 of the Indian Constitution.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has been entrusted with the key portfolios of Revenue and Sports. Priyank Kharge takes charge of Home (minus Intelligence), along with IT & BT and e-Governance. Meanwhile, Satish Jarkiholi is assigned Public Works, and KH Muniyappa oversees Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

The new assignments also see MB Patil handling Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, with Ramalinga Reddy managing Major and Medium Irrigation. Energy and Tourism go to KJ George, while Greater Bengaluru's development falls under Krishna Byre Gowda, who will be responsible for various municipal bodies across the city.

Health and Family Welfare will be managed by UT Khader, while Eshwar Khandre takes on Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. Urban Development, excluding certain authorities, has been assigned to Yathindra Siddaramaiah. Transport is under Byrathi Suresh, and Sharan Prakash Patil focuses on Education Development. The governor's approval signaled the official go-ahead for these changes.

Marking his leadership, DK Shivakumar convened his inaugural cabinet meeting at Vidhana Soudha, reflecting alignment among senior ministers like G Parameshwara and Ramalinga Reddy. The day of high-level discussions signifies a new era post his ascent as the 34th Chief Minister of Karnataka, amid enthusiastic public support and a ceremonious swearing-in.
