As the Ebola virus sees a notable rise in cases across Africa, Chhattisgarh is taking proactive steps to safeguard its public health. State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal announced on Saturday that they are fully equipped to manage any potential Ebola threat. A dedicated public grievance helpline has also been launched under the Chief Minister's office.

Jaiswal assured citizens that comprehensive preventive measures are established at hospitals and quarantine facilities statewide. He noted that three individuals currently isolated in Durg—hailing from African nations—are not exhibiting symptoms. This move is purely precautionary, with ongoing monitoring in place.

The minister emphasized the importance of the new helpline in enhancing public trust and ensuring issues are communicated effectively to the Chief Minister. Jaiswal's comments come amid intensified vigilance from health authorities, following advice from the Central Government to avoid travel to affected regions in Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.

The World Health Organisation has classified the Ebola outbreaks in Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Meanwhile, in India, a suspected Ebola case in Rajasthan is under investigation after a Ugandan visitor exhibited symptoms. Safety protocols have been activated, emphasizing the nation's readiness and commitment to public health safety.
