An FIR has been registered by Shimla Police against Shrikant Baldi, former Chief Secretary and ex-Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority. The move follows allegations by Sanjay Gupta, another ex-Chief Secretary, who claims Baldi issued defamatory statements against him.
Gupta's complaint accuses Baldi of spreading unfounded and damaging allegations intended to harm his reputation and public image. These statements, Gupta alleges, aimed to undermine his official duties, prompting police action under sections 248, 351, and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Shimla Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh confirmed the registration of the FIR. Attempts to reach Baldi for comments were unsuccessful as he remained unresponsive to calls and messages. The investigation is currently underway, authorities said.
