Kerala Health Minister K Muraleedharan has declared that the recent Shigella outbreak in various parts of the state is under control, with vigilant monitoring operative in Wayanad and other districts.
In an interaction with ANI, Muraleedharan noted the deployment of a specialized medical team from Kozhikode Medical College to tackle the situation in Wayanad, where multiple students required hospitalization due to Shigellosis, a highly infectious bacterial disease.
Following reports of confirmed cases in Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts, the minister acknowledged that two students from a Wayanad school tested positive for the infection. However, he assured the public that steps are underway to mitigate the spread and that the conditions of affected individuals remain stable.
