Extensive security measures have been introduced in Theni district for the final rites of iconic filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away at 85. According to Deputy Inspector General V. Sasi Mohan, approximately 1,000 police personnel are mobilized to manage the anticipated crowd, ensuring safety and convenience for visitors.

Authorities have arranged distinct entry paths for family and the general public, setting up dedicated enclosures to facilitate an orderly tribute. Special provisions have also been made for dignitaries attending the ceremonies, following government guidelines. The final rites are set to commence around 3 PM, backed by a robust security plan.

Bharathiraja, who made a significant impact on Tamil cinema with his 1977 debut '16 Vayathinile,' directed over 40 films, earning him the title 'Iyakkunar Immayam.' His sudden demise led to an outpouring of grief in the film community, with tributes highlighting his enduring contribution to cinema's evolution.
