Bharat Innovates 2026: Bridging Innovation and Global Ecosystem

Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood highlights the Bharat Innovates 2026 initiative, aimed at connecting Indian innovation with the global ecosystem. It focuses on collaboration between startups, academic institutions, and industry players, showcasing over 150 technologies and facilitating long-term partnerships through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood emphasized the importance of the 'Bharat Innovates 2026' initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education. This initiative serves as a crucial link between Indian innovation and the global ecosystem, aiming to bridge existing gaps in collaboration.

Sood highlighted that 'Bharat Innovates' is a reflection of India's immense potential on the world stage. By showcasing innovations from IITs, IISc, and various startups, the initiative marks a significant step towards embedding Indian ingenuity into international markets. Sood stated that the platform unites inventors, academic institutions, and corporates to harness innovation for societal benefit.

Discussing long-term cooperation potential, Sood confirmed that multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) would be signed to foster partnerships between Indian startups, academic institutions, and global industry leaders. This multi-faceted strategy aims to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem that connects global investors with India's domestic markets.

Reflecting on the evolution of such platforms, Sood noted that prior initiatives were often limited in scope. However, 'Bharat Innovates 2026' represents a paradigm shift towards a more structured and large-scale engagement across deep tech startups in 13 areas. Upcoming events like Viva Tech further underscore this momentum.

Sood emphasized the government's proactive policies, such as the RDI fund and DPIIT's Rs 10,000 crore fund, designed to support deep tech R&D in the private sector and encourage startups, thus accelerating the growth of India's innovation ecosystem.
