The Indian Army has finalized its selection of Meprolight's MEPRO X6 telescopic sight as the standard daytime optic for NEGEV machine guns, marking the culmination of a multi-year tender process. The optic, tested extensively for operational and environmental resilience, promises to boost target acquisition capabilities for the Indian military at greater distances.
With the procurement of numerous NEGEV machine guns, the Indian Army required an advanced daytime optic to significantly enhance operational effectiveness over extended ranges. The comprehensive evaluation involved detailed user testing and stringent environmental trials to guarantee the optic's reliability, durability, and accuracy under challenging conditions.
Commenting on the development, Golan Kalimi, Senior Vice President of Meprolight, stated, "The future of military capability hinges on the quality of information available during critical moments. We aim to provide optical solutions transforming battlefield awareness into decisive advantages. Our collaboration through a technology transfer with the Indian defence sector underscores our commitment to supporting India's defence growth."
Deliveries will be managed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), which secured the tender with a solution pivoting on the MEPRO X6. Adhering to the Make in India policy, Meprolight has established a Transfer of Technology agreement with RRP Defence, ensuring local production of the sights and their supply to BEL for distribution to the Indian Army.
The MEPRO X6, featuring a 6x magnification, caters to assault rifles and machine guns demanding precision and ruggedness. It ensures enhanced target identification and dependable performance under harsh conditions. This partnership reaffirms Meprolight's dedication to providing cutting-edge, battle-ready optical systems.
This initiative is emblematic of Meprolight's strategy to meld technological innovation, global partnership, and technology transfer, adapting to regional requirements while offering sustained support and readiness for the Indian Army's future endeavors.
