Delhi High Court Reviews Bail Plea in High-Profile MCD Corruption Case

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice on the bail plea of Lt Colonel Abhishek Kumar Mishra, arrested on corruption charges while serving as Deputy Commissioner on deputation with MCD. The court requested a status report from CBI and scheduled the next hearing for June 24.

Justice Madhu Jain, the vacation judge, issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding Mishra's bail application and has scheduled a hearing for June 24. The judge instructed the CBI's Special Public Prosecutor to file a status report before the next legal proceeding date.

Lt Colonel Mishra has been in judicial custody for over three months. While allegations suggest a bribery conspiracy involving the acceptance and delivery of Rs 4 lakh, Mishra's defense argues that no direct evidence has been found against him. The CBI's claim centers on a detailed account of how bribe money exchanged hands, ultimately leading to Mishra's arrest.
