Syrian Arab Army attacks Kabani, testing defences in jihadist stronghold

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reportedly launched an attack on the strategic mountaintop town of Kabani this morning. The attack is aimed at southern defences of this jihadist stronghold in northeast Latakia, according to Al-Masdar News.

This attack on Kabani is meant to test the defences of the jihadist forces and seek to gain a new launching point for their future offensive on the town, Al-Masdar reported, citing a military source.

Further reports about the advances in the attack are awaited.

Syrian Arab Army has recently increased the push to take control of Kabani. They repeatedly tried to capture Kabani in May, but they were repelled each time by the jihadist forces.
