Gunfight breaks out in Anantnag, three terrorists trapped - report

A gunfight has broken out in Kutto area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, according to news channel Times Now. Three terrorists are believed to be trapped. The top Jaesh commander Fayaz Panzoo is reported to have been killed along with his associate in the fight. Fayaz was involved in an attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Anantnag town on June 12, 2019, in which 5 CRPF Personnel and station house officer (SHO) Arshad Khan were martyred.

It has been reported that a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces in the area following credible inputs about the presence of militants. Forces were carrying out searches when the hiding militants fired, forces retaliated leading to an encounter.
