The majority leader of Kenya's National Assembly Aden Duale and Minority Leader John Mbadi have filed a notice of motion for increased efforts, including military deployment, to resolve Kenya-Somalia maritime dispute and called for Nairobi to protect its territory.
Today I gave notice of a motion on behalf of the @NAssemblyKE petitioning the Kenya Government to resolve the Maritime dispute and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya in accordance with Articles 5, 241(3), 255 of the constitution of Kenya. pic.twitter.com/hJ2oRKFLBT

Kenya and Somalia have been arguing for years about a disputed 100,000 square kilometers region in the Indian ocean. Both the countries have made claims for the area which supposedly has a large deposit of oil and gas. Somalia took the matter to International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague but the issue is yet to be resolved.
