Nigeria: Many people feared dead as Boko Haram attack two towns in Borno - report

Many people are feared to have been killed in the attack suspected to be carried by Boko Haram in two towns of Borno state last night, according to local media organization Sahara Reporters. The terrorists attacked Gubio town and Magumeri town of Borno state. Both the towns raided by the terrorists are headquarters of both Gubio and Magumeri local government areas in the northern part of Borno. They burned the office Independent National Electoral Commission and other several houses leaving a number of people displaced.
The terrorists reportedly came to Gubio town around 6 pm (local time) and sacked the troops. They were roaming around on the streets of Gubio without any fear until around 10 pm.

According to Sahara Reporters, a local government official confirmed the attack and said the insurgents stormed Gubio town about 6 pm, performed their maghrib prayers at about 6:30 pm and went on to wreak havoc on innocent civilians, with setting ablaze buildings.
"It is unfortunate that a week after a deadly attack which took place in Gubio that led to the withdrawal of troops, other armed insurgents stormed Gubio town at about 6 pm, performed their maghrib prayers about 6:30 pm in Gubio Mosque before they wreaked havoc on innocent civilians with setting ablaze of houses and public structures," the official said.
Later on, the terrorists proceeded to Magumeri town and overran it, razing many buildings.
Many of the villagers were forced to seek refuge in bushes.
