Gas leak in Rutherford County, residents evacuated, roads closed

A gas leak has occured at Old Nashville Highway and Chiken Pike in Rutherford County. The leak is reportedly affecting twenty homes directly. The residents of the community have been evacuated from their homes as a measure of precaution.
Multiple agencies responded to the leak around at around 10 am at Old Nashville Highway and Chicken Pike.
According to a statement by Rutherford County Fire Rescue, construction crews hit a gas line which caused the leak.
RCFR is asking others in the area to shelter in place unless otherwise notified.

Old Nashville Highway, Chicken Pike, and Baker Road have been closed due to the leak.
The road closure will last through most of the afternoon while crews work to repair the leak.
