Illegal Veterinary Medicine Manufacturing Unit Busted in Thane

Two individuals were booked for operating a veterinary medicine manufacturing unit without proper permissions in Thane's Bhiwandi township. Authorities have apprehended two individuals for allegedly running an illicit veterinary medicine manufacturing unit in the Talawli Naka area of Thane district's Bhiwandi township, an official revealed on Monday.

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration, acting on a June 1 tip-off, raided the unauthorized unit and prompted a case filing under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, according to an officer from the Nizampura police station.

During the raid, officials confiscated materials and equipment used in the production and packaging of veterinary medicines, with a total estimated value of Rs 14.64 lakh.

Assistant Inspector Dhanraj Kedare from Bhiwandi's Crime Branch Unit II indicated that the accused lacked the required permissions, educational background, and technical expertise for medicine manufacturing. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the materials and the distribution network of the final products, he stated.
