A 45-year-old woman, Shanti Kujjur, passed away while being carried on a traditional 'charpoy' bedstead to a hospital in Jharkhand's Latehar district. Relatives undertook this makeshift transport due to poor road conditions that hindered ambulance access to their Baseria village in Mahuatand block.

Local Block Development Officer Amren Dang described the incident as 'very sad' and assured that all basic problems, including road construction, will be addressed soon. Despite a nearby community health center, locals claimed it lacked proper infrastructure.

Shanti Kujjur had been experiencing fever and body ache and complained of chest pain on Monday morning. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital by Dr. Amit Khalko, who cited a heart attack as the cause of death. Villagers have long petitioned for better roads, which they believe could have saved her life.
