India-Mauritius Collaboration: New Medical Facility Inaugurated
A new medical facility in Grand Bois, Mauritius, built with Indian grant assistance, was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The facility will provide secondary health care to 16,000 people. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of health post-COVID-19 and highlighted ongoing India-Mauritius collaborations, including space cooperation.
A cutting-edge medical facility in Grand Bois, Mauritius, was inaugurated on Wednesday, with Indian grant assistance playing a pivotal role. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hailed it as the 'newest expression of our friendship.'
Jaishankar, who is on a two-day visit to Mauritius, emphasized the medical clinic's importance, noting it will serve 16,000 residents in the area. 'Health is a priority after COVID-19, and every government has a duty to ensure it,' he stated.
Jaishankar praised Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth for the collaborative initiative, which aims to improve the well-being and connectivity within Mauritius. He also touched upon future projects, including a space-based early warning system for natural disasters. This came alongside the unveiling of a Project Plan Document between India's ISRO and Mauritius MRIC.
