Zydus Lifesciences Gains Approval in Mexico for Cancer Treatment Biosimilar
Zydus Lifesciences Ltd announced that Mexico's regulatory authority COFEPRIS has granted marketing approval for Mamitra, a biosimilar of Trastuzumab used to treat cancers such as breast and advanced gastric cancer. This approval allows Zydus to offer this life-saving therapy in different strengths, further expanding their oncology portfolio.
Zydus Lifesciences Ltd announced on Wednesday that the Mexican regulatory authority, COFEPRIS, has granted marketing approval for Mamitra, a Trastuzumab biosimilar used for treating various cancers.
With this approval, Mamitra will be marketed in different strengths of 150 mg and 440 mg as part of Zydus Lifesciences' continued efforts to make life-saving therapies more accessible, especially in oncology.
Mamitra is used to treat breast cancer and advanced gastric cancer, which has become the most diagnosed cancer in Mexico. The approval also marks an important milestone for Zydus as the company aims to expand its biosimilar portfolio to new markets, said Managing Director Dr. Sharvil Patel.
