A 65-year-old man has died of swine flu in Maharashtra's Beed district, a health official confirmed on Friday.

Lab tests confirmed the presence of the H1N1 influenza A virus in samples taken from the deceased, who had been receiving treatment at a private hospital on July 17.

Raosaheb Chate, a resident of Sakud village in Ambajogai tehsil, had returned from a trip to Pandharpur on July 15 and was hospitalized the following day when he showed symptoms. District health officer Dr. Ulhas Gandal reported that his samples tested positive for H1N1.

In response, the local administration has conducted a survey in the village and initiated precautionary measures. Medicines were provided to Chate's family, who have not exhibited any infection symptoms.
