A 60-year-old male patient from Uttar Pradesh successfully underwent a challenging surgery to remove a nearly 10 cm tumor affecting his nose, windpipe, and food pipe at Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Doctors described the condition as extremely rare.

The patient, identified as Rakesh from Sambhal, reported severe difficulty in breathing and swallowing solid foods, accompanied by a change in voice. The operation, which took place in July, was spearheaded by Dr. Sangeet Aggarwal, Head and Neck Onco surgeon, and his team.

Dr. Aggarwal explained that MRI and core needle biopsy revealed a large rhabdomyoma pressing against vital structures. This rare tumor type, more commonly found in children and typically located in the heart, required surgical excision. Anaesthesiologist Dr. Jayashree Sood noted that the surgery required meticulous planning to mitigate high-risk factors, such as proximity to major blood vessels and potential nerve damage.
