Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has firmly rejected Israeli proposals for temporary control of the Gaza Strip, asserting that the territory should be administered by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the legitimate Palestinian government.
In an interview with Russia's RIA news agency, Abbas stated, "Gaza must be governed under the auspices of the PLO and the legitimate Palestinian government."
He stressed the unacceptable nature of any temporary solutions suggested by Israel.
