Frontline medical personnel in Delhi have reignited their protest actions in the wake of an alleged rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. The Federation of Resident Doctors' Associations (FORDA) announced the continuation of the strike, emphasizing the need for a Central Protection Act and improved safety protocols for medical staff.

The decision comes as a response to backlash following FORDA’s initial call to end the protest based on the health ministry's verbal assurances. Medical personnel from major government hospitals, including AIIMS, VMMC-Safdarjung Hospital, and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, have ceased elective services to highlight their demands.

FORDA's revised stance has garnered substantial support from various hospital Resident Doctors' Associations. The union condemned both the Union health ministry and the West Bengal government for failing to ensure medical staff safety. The central health ministry has agreed to form a committee involving FORDA to develop a Central Protection Act within the next 15 days.
