Junior doctors at medical colleges and hospitals across Uttar Pradesh marked 'Kala Raksha Bandhan' on Monday, while elective services remained paralyzed for the eighth consecutive day. The strike is a protest against the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee in Kolkata.
Resident doctors in multiple states have joined the protest by withdrawing elective services, including outpatient departments (OPDs). UP Resident Doctors' Association state president Hardeep Jogi confirmed the ongoing strike, stating that OPD and other services are disrupted statewide.
'Today, on Raksha Bandhan, junior doctors observed 'Kala Raksha Bandhan,' Jogi informed PTI. He added that the association plans to write to the state government, demanding measures to ensure the safety of junior doctors working in medical institutions.
