The health sector in Himachal Pradesh is set for a significant overhaul, according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. On Wednesday, he criticized the previous BJP government's handling of the sector, accusing them of inaugurating incomplete projects and focusing on electoral gains rather than essential improvements.

Highlighting the dire state of medical colleges under the BJP, Sukhu pledged comprehensive upgrades. Initially, the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla and Dr. Rajender Prasad RP Medical College, Tanda (Kangra) will be upgraded to match the facilities of AIIMS. The recruitment of 400 staff nurses at IGMC aims to ensure high-quality patient care.

Furthermore, Sukhu addressed the state assembly, targeting Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur's misleading claims about new taxes. He humorously suggested renaming the BJP as 'Bari Jhoothi Party' due to their alleged misrepresentation of facts.
