The Union health ministry announced plans to evaluate the conversion of Mohalla Clinics in Delhi into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. This proposal seeks to expand the state's healthcare network in line with the Ayushman Bharat scheme guidelines.
Concerns over corruption and integrity within the clinics have prompted officials to seek a comprehensive report from Delhi's new health minister. Previously, Lt Governor V K Saxena ordered a CBI inquiry into alleged fake diagnostic tests suspected of benefiting private labs.
With over 1.76 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs already operational in India, the scheme currently offers essential health coverage to millions. Despite its benefits, the AAP-led Delhi government and West Bengal have yet to adopt the initiative.
