Nobel Laureate Shines at ProUPS Conference Inauguration

Nobel Laureate Prof. Aaron Ciechanover captivated attendees at the inaugural ProUPS conference at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, focusing on protein homeostasis and its implications for health and drug discovery.

Prof. Ciechanover, who earned his Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004, highlighted the historical advancements in ubiquitin research and stressed the importance of maintaining a democratic environment to foster scientific progress. He urged the scientific community to remember the role of open communication in advancing research.

The three-day conference, organized by SRM MCH&RC in conjunction with the NCBS Bangalore, featured over 19 speakers from countries like Israel, Australia, and Japan. SRMIST Founder Chancellor Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar underscored the value of such international platforms for enhancing global connections and knowledge sharing.
