A team of dedicated doctors at AIIMS Delhi has successfully removed extra lower limbs from a 17-year-old boy in a groundbreaking surgery. This marks the first time such a procedure was performed at the prestigious hospital.

The boy suffered from a rare condition known as 'incomplete parasitic twin,' with only 40 cases reported worldwide. Dr. Asuri Krishna, an additional professor in the department of surgery, explained that this condition occurs when one of the twin fetuses doesn't fully form and remains attached to the other twin.

The boy, who struggled with social stigma, expressed relief and joy post-surgery. The team of doctors, involving multiple departments due to the boy’s complex anatomy, managed to conduct the successful two-hour operation earlier this year.
